Everything About Marijuana

Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid?

You’ve probably heard about the basic marijuana categories – Indica, Sativa and Hybrids – genetic combinations of the two. One of the main differences is Indica is often called a body stone – a great night time high – good for those who suffer from insomnia or pain. Indica is not necessarily when you want to smoke during the day. If you’re looking for a daytime strain to make you feel more creative or allow you to work , you’ll probably want a sativa. Hybrids, on the other hand, are the best of both worlds and extremely popular with Canadian smokers. Though users certainly report a difference, , some scientists are pointing out that there is no difference between indica, sativa, and hybrids on a chemical level.

CBD & THC

CBD and THC are the active ingredients in cannabis, two of many cannabinoids found in the plant.. It is THC that is responsible for the “high,” most users are familiar with, and CBD is a cannabinoid with medicinal properties (often used for anxiety or pain) that are not psychoactive. It is the human endocannabinoid system that THC and CBD work on.

What is the difference between vaping and smoking marijuana?

Many people have turned to vaping instead of smoking cigarettes, and this trend has continued with marijuana. Vaping has become considerably more popular in the marijuana world, with consumers choosing between pre-filled disposable extract pens, or epens that you put cannabis extract or dried cannabis flower in. While edibles are probably recommended more often by doctors, for those that prefer to inhale, vaping is recommended. Vaping, essentially, is the process of heating cannabis without allowing it to burn. Users inhale the mist like vapor substance released into the air. There is no smoke, so it’s much less noticeable than sparking a joint! The original vaporizers were tabletop medical devices, but there are now many attractive portable options.

A History of Pot and People

People have been using the cannabis plant for thousands of years all around the world. Cannabis grows around the world, in many different environments and temperatures. For food, for recreation and for textiles, the cannabis / hemp plant has always been our friend. The modern era of medical marijuana started in the 1830s when a doctor in India discovered that cannabis relieved the pain and vomiting in cholera patients. You’ve probably seen pictures of old bottles of cannabis medicine and extracts that were commonly sold by doctors and pharmacists in the 1800s. Becoming illegal in the 20th century, the era of prohibition lasted for nearly a hundred years. With Canada legalizing coast to coast, more states legalizing and more countries prepared to follow, the stigma is over, with people free to discover medical marijuana and weed as a recreational alternative to alcohol use. The reefer madness days are finally ending – and Canada is lucky to be at the forefront!
